As the International Editorial Representative of Psychology Times, I am pleased to announce that I will be attending the APA Annual Meeting to be held in San Francisco in 2026.

This participation forms a strategic pillar of the ‘Editorial Bridge’ work we have been carefully sustaining among the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Canada, and the United States. Our fundamental aim is to bring a universal perspective to the field of mental health by merging academic research, lived experiences, and interdisciplinary dialogue into a single crucible.

Why This Gathering Matters?

Bringing together researchers, educators, and editors who keep their finger on the pulse of the global psychiatry world, APA 2026 places the following critical topics at its center:

  • The Science of Lived Experience: The blending of scientific research with the real and unique life story of the human being (with learned expertise).
  • The Intersection of Neuroscience and Practice: Theoretical neurobiological data finding applicable and meaningful counterparts in everyday life.
  • Global Resilience and Trauma: The effects of global upheavals such as the climate crisis, war, and migration on the nervous system, and strategies for collective repair.
  • Cross-Cultural Mental Health: The meeting of the ancient wisdom of different geographies with modern psychology on the common ground of ‘belonging and identity.’

will place such topics at its center.

Four Countries, One Focus: The Editorial Bridge

This work that we are carrying out with Psychology Times aims to render visible the professional and societal accumulations of different geographies:

  • United Kingdom: Discipline and depth grounded in academic research.
  • Türkiye: The psychiatric analysis of cultural, historical, and spiritual (meaning-oriented) depth.
  • Canada: The identity and belonging experiences of immigrant communities.
  • USA: The strong editorial bond established with the North American academic world.

How Can You Follow the Process?

Throughout this important gathering in San Francisco, I will share the impressions I gain in real-time through my social media accounts and website. Following the meeting, an in-depth reflection covering the entire process will be published here.
